Trade Marks - When to register

The best time to register a trade mark is as soon as possible after you start using the words, icon, image, etc. and ideally before you begin using the mark in commerce. This is because trade mark registration is typically granted on a first-to-use basis, meaning that the first person to use a mark in commerce has priority over others who later try to register the same or similar mark. Additionally, registering a trade mark early can also help to establish the distinctiveness of the mark and to prevent others from registering similar marks. Also, registering early can help to avoid disputes and legal challenges later on. In summary, it is generally recommended to register a trade mark as soon as possible, before you start using it in the market.
